Whitewater Rafting

So today we went rafting on the French Broad river. It was a blast, even though the rapids were only class 3. Our guide was this awesome hippie dude that didn't believe in Tums. We stopped along the way and dove off a 16 foot cliff, that was interesting. Also we got to jump out and float down the river in our life jackets, which was totally sweet. Nobody fell out, although my cousin Ben got run over by the raft while he was floating.

Whitewater rafting should definitely be on your list of things to do before you die. Also, if you can, go to a place that's looser with their safety regulations and lets you do bomb awesome stuff like this place did.

North Carolina :)

So I'm at our little cabin in North Carolina. I'm sitting on the couch. My aunts are gossiping behind me. I've got 13 cousins, 6 of whom are here now. More will come later. They are all in the basement, aka the man cave, where the pool table, tiki bar, and video game system are located. I'll post pictures later, I forgot my connector cord. I sould totally be writing more, but I'm kind of tired.

Trip

today we took a day trip to madison. YAY! happyness for me. i've already mentioned that i wish i lived in madison...anyway, here's what we did:

first we went to michael's craft store to get some crap that we needed...then we went to state street. my dad and brother went to go look at some boring museum crap, and me and my mom went shopping. ha, me shopping is funny. i only had $40 so we went in to all the expensive shops and just looked at everything...then we went to ragstock where I make the serious purchases ;) here's what i got:

pinstripe vest thingy ($10) but in the end free because the girl forgot to ring it up :O
"cobra" t-shirt ($10)
checkered scarf ($8)
"circus" hoodie ($10) this was so coool...it's blue and has little pictures of tigers and horses and balloons all over it.

then we went to cinnamon girl, mango, art gecko, urban outfitters, etc, etc, we didn't buy anyhitng except for a sweatband for my brother, which he looks really cute in with ihs hair all mussed up.

and we went to poster master where i got a nightmare before christmas poster for $8!! yayz! and we had gyros at the parthenon for lunch and ice cream at the chocolate shop.

perfect day :D

And i am getting totally pumped because we are going to North carolina on wednesday with all my relatives. more yay!

Band Boys <3

OK, it's time we had a formal introduction to everyone. These are the people I'm thinking of when I stare off blankly into space. These are the people that would be on my Christmas list if I still believed in Sandy Claws. Anyway, here they are. I'm not doing a picspam becuase Blogger is HORRIBLE for putting lots of pictures on. So I'll have to limit myself :(

This is William Beckett. He is the lead singer for The Academy Is... He is possibly the prettiest boy in the world.

He's not gay.

This is Gabe Saporta. He's the lead singer for Cobra Starship.

Not gay either.

This is Ryan Ross. He is the guitarist and lyricist for Panic at the Disco.

Totally straight.

This is Pete Wentz. He is the bassist for Fall Out Boy

Now, what made you think he'd be gay??

Were You Aiming For Innocence? (Ryden slash)

Title: Were You Aiming For Innocence?
Rating: PG-13 for swears & sensual situations
Pairing: Ryan Ross & Brendon Urie <3
Disclaimer: I do not own Panic at the Disco or Fall Out Boy *sobs* This story is a work of fiction *sobs harder*
Summary: "Dripping with sweat, I sprinted out the double doors of the back of the concert hall. I should be exhausted, having just finished a nearly five hour show. However, my adrenaline was still racing. These were the best moments of my life, when I was unbelievably focused like I never was at other times...."

It's on Quizilla, it's my first slash, check it out. It won't publish my link for some reason so just copy and paste the good old fashioned way, KK?

Madison...

Today we went to Madison because we had to drop off some friends & go to Woodman's. It made me think of how much I frickin want to live there. I hate hate hate the little craptown I live in. Madison has nicer people, more oppurtunities, and so much more culture. I live in a town where the only music anyone listens to is country and top 40. You can't even buy an issue of Alternative Press anywhere in town. It's tragic.

I know that there are a lot of bad things about Madison: poverty, bad fish smell from the polluted lake, and huge pricetags on houses. But I'll be satisfied with an apartment when I live there. (Yes, I will live there someday, either Madison, Portland, or San Francisco...) I love averything about it: the stores, the food, the music, the art, the festivals...even the graffiti holds a special place in my heart. I lived in Madison until I was 5 when we loaded into the old green van and packed off to this podunk little hellhole where I'm trapped for 4 more years of high school. Now is about the time that Ryan Ross is supposed come for me in his vintage tour van and sweep me off to Las Vegas...right? Ryan? Brendon?

Anyone?

Misery (SPOILER WARNING)

Oh my god, I just finished watching Misery. It's this suspense movie about a famous author who crashes his car in the middle of nowwhere and is saved by his "number one fan," who cares for him and seems to be kind and motherly. But, to make a long story short, she turns out to be a psychopath who killed newborn babies when she was a nurse and now wants to keep this author captive. She "hobbles" him, meaning she breaks both his feet. Graphically. Among other horrible things.

It. Scared. The. Shit. Out. Of. Me.

It was one of those deals where it's more psychological than physical, y'know? There was some gore, but it wasn't as scary as the suspense, wordplay, and overall creepiness. Misery was originally a Stephen King novel that was made into a movie. I really do like SK, but haven't read a terrible lot from him. Mostly short stories here and there, I read The Secret Garden which might have been a novelette, not sure. I plan to watch The Shining when I turn 16 with all my friends, as a coming of age ritual, due to the fact I was traumatized when my dad said "REDRUM!" in this reallllllly creepy voice. It still freaks me out.

First Day of Summer Pix

It's the first day of summer! Yay! So I thought I'd post some pictures....

Iris in our garden

Me...this is the first pic of myself I've ever posted on the Internet...I'll be keeping my eyes open for sinister individuals in trenchcoats...

Here is my hand looking particularly cool today...

Footsies ^^

Daaaaiiiiisssssies....

Music Meme

SO I found this meme where you put your iPod or MP3 on Shuffle and write about the song that comes on for as long as the song plays, no more and no less. Here goes:

1.Get On Your Boots - U2

Great song. I saw this one morning on VH1 when I was waiting for my carpool...U2 really does have a good sound; I need to start listening to them more. This is my only song of their's. It's from No Line On The Horizon, which a lot of critics are saying sounds like this band needs to hang it up, but I kind of like. The music video is pretty cool, too. I reallly love the part that goes 'let me in the sound, let me in the sound.' Any really raw and unpolished parts in songs are really cool for me and tend to be my favorite parts. I know I'm totally babbling, but I gotta keep writing. LOL. Oh, it's my favorite part....how nice. I've listened to this song kind of a lot. Very nice.

2. Jammin - Bob Marley

I really onl own this song because I got one of his greatest hits CD for Christmas. I like a lot of the songs on it, like Buffalo Soldier, No Woman No Cry, & Could You Be Loved. Three Little Birds is me and my friend's song because it makes us think about Shortie from the Scary Movie movies. Hilarious,we love him. So anywa, back to this song, it has a nice beat, so great for a hot summer day.

3. From Yesterday - 30 Seconds To Mars

I loooooove this song, I saw the music video when a friend was over and kind of fell in love with th esound of it, not to mention the guy who sings it. When he screams....god, it's just....orgasmic. I won't pr3etend I'm not a bit embarassed for using a sex term, but really, to describe it in any other way would just not be right. I also like that this song isn't totally about love, which is a refreshing change. I hate that ALL popular songs have to revolve around love. Why couldn't we have chosen something like flowers or trucks, or something that isn't as complicated and well, pointless. Ha. I just called love pointless. I'm starting to sound rather emo. Ah.....rambling again, I know....I just love the hard feeling of this song, and this band. It's nice for those moments when you just need to lay down, turn the music all the way up, and zone out. I have a lot of those moments.

4. This Is How I Disappear - My Chemical Romance

Oh yay! Here's a song I can write a lot about. I love it! It's one that I bought purely out of love for my Chemical Romance. I'd never heard it before, but I had so much trust in MCr that I knew I would like it. At first, actually, I didn't care for it so much, but it has definitely grown on me. The beginning is GREAT, with the whisper/scream of 'GO!' The guitar is also very amazing, too. The lyrics are hard to figure out, but sometimes that makes it even better. Ah...Gerard Way hitting high notes/screamo, tis amazing. "I'm just a ghost, so I can't hurt you anymore, so I can't hurt you anymore! GOOOOOO, YOU WANNA SEE HOW FAR DOWN I CAN SINK, LET ME OUT!!!!" I probably totally botched those lyrics. Oh well. SOng almost over....nice ending note....

Was gonna do 5 but I'm bored & I wanna post pix :)

More Photos

Here's some random pictures htat were laying around on my camera. :D

Flowers...=D

And here is a picture of my flip-flops at camp. Ha, this medical journal thing asked me if they could use this picture in an article describing the ill effects off flip flops on your feet. I never really got back to them on that....

Here's the view from my bunk at camp. :) Good times.

Nice army fatigues that were hanging on our backyard line...my parents sell all kinds of 'antiques' on eBay so we often have a lot of old crap laying around...

This is the Badlands where we stayed for a couple nights. Cabins were PUNY but adorable. It looked like an alien world. I almost got bit by a rattlesnake...but that's a story for later.

Sunsets were beautiful; don't have a nice picture of one though :(

Here are some chives and daisies in our garden. (If you haven't noticed yet, I kind of have a thing for photographing flowers. Better than photographing naked people, mmm?)

This is a barn somewhere on the Great Plains when we made our trip to Montana. You should see it out there; little Indian towns, yards where the only ornaments are the rusting cars, and horses everywhere. I liked it.

Hope you enjoyed my pictures, look for more soon. Summer is HERE so I will be blogging much more :) Yay!

Olbrich Gardens Pix

We went to Olbrich Gardens for Mother's Day and I took a lot of pictures. Here are some of my favorites:

This is the Thai Pavilion they have there. Isn't it just gorgeous?

They imported it all the way from Thailand. The gold parts are actual layers of gold leaf so you aren't allowed to touch it because it can scratch the gold.

God, you could spend hours in this place just taking pictures. It's a photographer's paradise.

Someday I'll go there for an entire day and just get a ton of amazing pictures...

Urghhh

So sick. Urghhhhhh.

I don't feel like doing anything except maybe watching a movie. Why am I typing? I don't even know.

This isn't fun. I'm gonna miss my trip to Mt. Olympus tomorrow. We go as an eighth grade class to Mt. Olympus water park at the end of the year. Not that I really wanted to go anyway. Have you seen the bathrooms there? Not only are they disgusting, they don't have doors but shower curtains. I mean really. Shower curtains on a public stall? Bad move.

Diarrhea wave coming on. Bye.

My Weekend...

....kinda sucked.

I already told you about my horse show. That night (only a couple hours after that post) I was horridly sick and ended up staying home from school on Monday. I slept in till 2 PM having really weird dreams, like I always do when I'm sick. Then I woke up and went downstairs and sat on the couch. I turned on the alternative music channel (you know those channels that are just audio and play music 24/7? Yeah.) and watched The Nightmare Before Christmas on my laptop. I think I'm in love with Jack Skellington. I also had a really great thought. What if Jack Skellington actually existed and him and Ryan Ross fell in love? >.< *flails* So I drew a little picture of them together. It was cute.

<3 <3 <3 Now I have to make these stupid hearts <3 I mean you have to tilt your head to get them to look even remotely like hearts. I mis alt + 3 hearts, but I can't make them on my laptop since it doesn't have a number pad. *sniff* Tis' a tragedy.

Also when I was sick I went to TV.com and I caught myself up on all the Harper's Island episodes I've missed. When the show first aired I meant to really get into it but I sort of forgot about it and never watched. Oh well, it was nice to have something to do while couchbound. My favorite characters are Cal and Abby. I did like J.P. (or is it J.T.?) but, well, you know if you watch it :(

Well that was sort of a random post. I was just kind of bored. Haha. I need to get my pictures from my camera on here. Perhaps tomorrow. If I can find my camera and figure out how. First time with my laptop.

Oh My Gosh, A Blog!

That's right folks....I've got a blog now. Yay! Pretty gay boys for everyone!

So I'm a little tired right now because I was just at...a horse show! Wow, I know, right? Do you want to know how I did? I know you do. The first thing I showed in was showmanship. Unfortunately I was the only person in that particular class so I got first. My second class was English riding, and again I was the only person in that so I got another trophy. GOL. (If you're wondering what GOL stands for, it means 'guffaw out loud,' because I don't laugh, I guffaw.) But in my third class I was competing with 4 other people and I got second place. =D Yay.

Horse shows are not as glamorous as you might think. First, you have to get up at 6:00 in the morning and get to the fairgrounds. If you own the horse you're showing you have to oil his face, whiten his socks and tail, clip his whiskers and ear hair, and do many other things I won't put you through. And, if you are the lucky owner of a stallion, you get to clean his sheath. Yummy.

After you have your horse looking gorgeous, you must load him on to the trailer. This is not always a fun experience and you may end up with severe injuries, or at the least, very tired and frustrated.

When you get to the fairgrounds, you unload your horse and marvel at how dirty he has gotten during one short trip. Then you must unload him, a task almost as drudgeful as loading the horse.

After feeding your horse, registering, and a crapload of other stuff, you get to change into your show clothes. For English riding this includes tight breeches, an undershirt, tailcoat, knee-high boots, collar, stock pin, helmet, helmet cover, hair net, belt, and gloves. Then you put your hair in the hairnet and spray copious amounts of hairspray on it that makes your hair crunchy. X(

On top of all this it was raining, I was PMSing, and someone stole the showmanship patterns.

Great first show.
